FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 10, 2006

WINNERS OF THE FOURTH ANNUAL WINTER GALLERIE ART COMPETITION ARE ANNOUNCED
Eastern Maumee Bay Arts Council's 2006 Juried Show Adds Sales, Live Music to Event

Oregon, Ohio
The fourth annual Winter GALLErie (Gathering of Artists at the Lodge on Lake Erie) was held January 7 & 8, 2006 at the Maumee Bay Resort. This year's entries include paintings, photography, sculpture, quilting, basketry and fine art jewelry. For the first time, sales were permitted of the juried works as well as a special area of sales booths manned set up by the individual artists.

A special guest artist area in the main lobby featured past winners of the Winter GALLErie, and looked out over an outdoor sculpture exhibit that continues through spring 2006. In the Icebreaker Lounge, live music played from 4pm though midnight, featuring a collection of local artists playing contemporary, old-time, folk, and blues music.

"The resort was really enthusiastic and helpful about expanding the GALLErie to include both sales and musical entertainment," says Lisa Gloria, new president of the Eastern Maumee Bay Arts Council. "It's beginning to evolve into a fully-fledged Arts festival."

Winners of the competition received cash awards, certificates and ribbons. The winners this year are:

First Place, established artist: Charlie Schneider, "Final Storm," Photography
Second Place, established artist: Yvonne Danekind, "172 Hours," Quilting
Third Place, established artist: Kathy Clark, "Lake Erie Wildlife," Painting

First Place, emerging artist: Joe Hrabovsky, "Daddy Girl," Sculpture
Second Place, emerging artist: Ted Magee, "Cedar Points Light," Photography
Third Place, emerging artist: Tamilyn Shean, "Faery Collar," Jewelry

There were also five Certificates of Merit given, and those went to Joan Breier, Bev Chudey, Helen Fisher, Stephanie Petro, and Richard E Maxfield.

The Winter GALLErie is held the first weekend after New Year's, every year, at the Maumee Bay Resort.
